Join us on an exciting morning of mushroom foraging led by avid mushroom hunter and cultivator Peter Hermann as we delve into the forest and green belts to learn all about the magical world of mushrooms! We will be meeting early and begin with an educational and informative talk about mushrooms, followed by an exploratory foray into the forest.

Included: Mushroom foraging intro, walk and talk, a post-forage cup of nourishing wild greens and mushroom soup, follow up notes and recipes. A select medicinal range of Pete’s Harmonic Mycology products will be available on sale after the forage.

Location: to be revealed to participants closer to the time.

Please bring: Participants will need to bring a basket, pocket/pen knife, rain coat (weather permitting) and outdoor-friendly shoes.

Please note: Mushroom foraging is unpredictable and can be abundant or fickle and very weather dependant. We could come upon a glut of wild mushrooms for everyone to collect or just happen upon two for toast. Rest assured you will walk away with a bounty of new found knowledge.

Cost: R500 per adult, R250 for kids under 16, kids under 2 join for free.

About your teacher:

Peter Herrmann, mycophile and entrepreneur started his journey with mushrooms in 2016 when he co-founded Harmonic Mycology with his good friend Andrew Reid. Harmonic Mycology is a co-operative of DIY mycologists, driven by the desire the share the profound benefits and talents of the creatures known as fungi.

Peter’s main contribution is the growth of Harmonic Mycology as a business and the advancement of societal knowledge and the use of fungi as food and medicine. Foraging, mushroom cultivation and the sale of top quality medicinal mushroom supplements is how he spends most of his time engaging with fungi. He sees mushrooms and fungi as intelligent medicine for the people of the 21st century and is particularly interested in their potential for environmental healing and as sustainable sources of textiles and building materials.
